Easter in Crete

Easter is the most important holiday in Greece, and in the Orthodox church.

In Greece, there are a lot of customs and traditions. One of them, is the paint of eggs. They boil the eggs on Holy Thursday and they painted red to signify the blood of Christ.

 

They usually light a huge bonfire in the church to burn Judas. The Greeks have many traditions in the Easter. They roasting a lamb and they meet all friends and family to celebrate the Easter. The lamp must to be on the spit for 6 hours.

Although they make a traditional ‘’tsoureki’’. Tsoureki is a sweet bread which make it with chocolate or chestnut.
